Downtown Las Vegas still holds allot of history, even though the majority of the City is more recent, 1920's and newer, Las Vegas still has a few remnants of its pioneer heritage. The Mormon Fort is just one example of this heritage that was a major water source on the Mohave Desert for travelers on the San Diego trail.
The downtown area is quickly changing as land becomes more and more scarce in the Las Vegas Valley due to Federal restrictions. Downtown in re-urbanizing and we are starting to see the old small homes and offices be torn out to make way for the high-rise and multi-use structures that are being called the Manhattanization of Las Vegas. With many plans in the works for mass-transit, and may structures already under construction the down-town area will continue to grow and develop in a progressive and positive way.
