Pahrump NevadaLocated in the Southwest corner of Nye County, 64 miles northwest of Las Vegas and next to the California boarder. The towns population of about 25,000 residence is spread over 364 square miles. The town sets on a huge aquifer of about 22 million acre-feet of water. Most of the town is divided into larger lots from 8,000 sq. ft. to many acres in size. Wells are generally where one gets water for there homes. Pahrump is a Paiute Indian word meaning “place where big waters flow.” Many people who love open space and a peace of land live in this community and travel to Las Vegas on Nevada Hwy 160. Telephone and paved roads were slow to come here (1960’s) but real estate speculation and growth have exploded in this sleepy little town. Originally settled as large ranches on which they raised alfalfa, cotton, livestock, and wine grapes, these parcels have been subdivided into the plots you can find today.
